Tottenham icon Teddy Sheringham has hinted that Arsenal should sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Real Madrid this summer.
He told Boyle Sport: “Could we see Trent Alexander-Arnold back in the Premier League? Liverpool fans might not want him back and that would limit his options.”
“To be fair, he doesn’t immediately impress as an Arsenal player. I think they are too strong and resilient and would work as a proper back four unit. But they could make it work for him.”
“Even if you have an organized back four with great players, if you leave him alone Trent will look all over the place, and that was the case with Harry Maguire when Manchester United were not doing well. If you did the same with Tony Adams or Steve Bruce, they would have looked shocking.
“If you put Trent in an organized, structured back four and they work as a unit, that’s what playing in a team like Arsenal is all about.
“If someone works with Trent along those lines and coaches him to get into the right position at the right time, I’m sure he can develop in that position and give Arsenal that extra dimension he brings to the team.”
