Arsenal celebrated winning the Premier League title on Sunday as more than a million fans gathered on a five-mile circuit through north London. The Gunners turned the capital red with thousands of smoke bombs as their players paraded through the city with their trophies aloft. The parade took place less than 24 hours after the club lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
But even after a season in which Arsenal won the league for the first time since 2004 and reached two cup finals, Arsenal fans were still in full party mode. The women’s team also took part in the celebrations celebrating their FIFA Women’s Champions Cup glory in February. The parade caused massive congestion on London’s Underground and trains, causing long delays and cancellations, and some stations, including Drayton Park, being shut down for the day.
The parade lasted two-and-a-half hours, with Mikel Arteta’s players celebrating the much-awaited major trophy with jubilant supporters on the streets of Islington.
