Arsenal will continue their quest for a historic double when they face French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest on Saturday night.
Mikel Arteta insists Arsenal’s “ambition is even greater” to win the Champions League as they look ahead to a historic double. Arsenal manager Arteta has dismissed suggestions that there is less pressure on his players now that they have won the Premier League for the first time in 22 years.
Instead, Arteta said Arsenal were determined to finish their historic season with another trophy as they had never won the European Cup before.
“The ambition is bigger. We had one and now we want the second one. That’s all we’ve been talking about. We have to have a platform to reach bigger destinations and aim for more,” Arteta said.
“And the team has the ability because we have shown it in this competition the last two seasons. What we have done this season in this competition and I want the players to have confidence that we will win.”

“I think it’s an opportunity to seize this moment, because, as you said, this is the second time in our history that we are here and tomorrow we have the opportunity to write a new chapter in the history of this football club.
“And for that, we have to play tomorrow. With clarity, a lot of courage and a constant desire to win. We have these three aspects, so I am confident that we will come close to winning.”
“I think the players want more. When you experience that moment, it gives you a different kind of desire because you lift it and you know exactly what it feels like and you want to recreate that feeling as many times as possible. And tomorrow we have the opportunity to do that.”
“It will mean something new for all of us and we know how difficult it is to make history at a club like Arsenal. But that is the goal and that is why we are all so excited and have such a strong desire to make it happen.”
Arteta accepts that Paris Saint-Germain will start as favorites, but is extremely confident that his players can defy expectations.
Arteta added: “Well, they are defending the trophy so they were the last players who had the right to lift it and the fact is they are the champions and we are here to take it away from them.
“But I feel it, it’s great, we’ve done it, we’ve won it, we’ve fought for a long time in the Premier League to achieve it after 22 years, and now we have another opportunity to do it.
“And the journey we’ve had in this competition shows we can achieve that tomorrow. And, you know, the players are definitely supremely motivated.”
