Raheem Sterling was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle while disqualified under the influence of drugs, dangerous driving, possession of a Class C drug and failing to provide a specimen.
Former Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal forward Raheem Sterling has been arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired by drugs after crashing his Lamborghini. Sterling, who represented England 82 times, crashed his car into a motorway barrier on the M3 and was stopped by police.
Hampshire Police said on Thursday: “Just before 9am on Thursday, we received reports of a Lamborghini colliding with a barrier on the M3 southbound near the Minley Interchange. No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.”
“The driver, a 31-year-old man from Berkshire, was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while disqualified by drugs, dangerous driving, possession of a class C drug and failing to provide a specimen. He was released on bail pending our investigations.”
Sterling was ultimately released on bail pending further investigation.

Sterling has endured a very difficult few years regarding his football career. The winger had a successful spell at Liverpool before moving to Manchester City.
He won four Premier League titles during his time at the Etihad Stadium, but was sold to Chelsea in 2022. Sterling spent just two seasons at Stamford Bridge before being loaned to Arsenal, where he scored just one goal in 28 appearances.
The remainder of his contract with Chelsea was terminated in January and Wideman moved to Dutch side Feyenoord.
However, he only appeared in eight games and was unable to score a goal. Feyenoord manager Robin van Persie said of Sterling after his final appearance for the club: “Personally, I struggle with the cynicism that surrounds him. I think it’s more appropriate to be respectful. In any case, I don’t like cynicism. I can’t stand the whole atmosphere around him.”
“Everyone has to understand their place in it, and I think sometimes in the Netherlands we go a little too far in that regard.”
“He has scored 200 goals for England and played 82 international games,” Van Persie added. “And it doesn’t matter whether you think he’s playing well or not. But I think the way we’re dealing with this as a soccer country is really, really bad.”
