Nicholas Jackson spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich but looks set to return to Chelsea after the German giants opted not to sign him permanently.

Nicholas Jackson is now open to reviving his Chelsea career, but only if he becomes first choice. The Senegalese striker spent last season on loan at German giants Bayern Munich, much to the displeasure of former manager Enzo Maresca.

He scored 11 goals in 34 games, but it wasn’t enough for the Bundesliga champions to activate their option to sign him permanently. Since then, Jackson has been linked with a number of moves elsewhere.

But it appears he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge after all. According to The Sun, Jackson is happy to remain at the club under new manager Xabi Alonso, but only on the condition that he remains a member of the first team.

His departure was originally due to his unwillingness to replace Liam Delap. Jackson is open to staying, but another move is not completely on the table, with the forward open to both a loan and a permanent move.

Jackson, 24, signed with Spanish side Villarreal in 2023 and has played 81 games in all competitions, scoring 30 goals. He has seven years left on his contract with Chelsea.

The Blues were recently urged to rejoin the team by Paul Merson. He told Sky Sports: “I thought Chelsea were in a position where they had a manager who was grateful to be in charge of Chelsea.

“They need a manager that the fans appreciate that he is managing Chelsea and Xabi Alonso is a top manager so they get that. They need players and they need a clean-up. I would bring back Nicholas Jackson and I would tear Jackson away.”

“As I said before, Palmer created Jackson and Jackson created Palmer. Palmer isn’t on the plane (to the World Cup) because Jackson isn’t there.”

“Liam Delap is at his limit and Joao Pedro wants to come here[toward midfield]but that rounds it all off. He’s actually more of a No. 10 player.”

“A back three is a good fit for Chelsea because they have players who can bomb up front in Reece James, Marc Cucurella and Maro Gusto, and they have two holding midfielders in Caicedo and Enzo. That will suit Xabi Alonso. They could be a good team, but they need some experience.”

New manager Alonso replaces Liam Rosenior on a four-year contract and will officially take over at Chelsea on July 1.
