Former Manchester United stars Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hjølund are set to make a big change at Napoli following Antonio Conte’s departure from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Former Juventus and AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly reached an agreement to replace Conte at Napoli.

The 58-year-old was sacked by AC Milan after missing out on Champions League qualification, but he won’t have to wait too long to return to the management team. According to Sky Sports, Allegri is set to sign a two-year contract to replace Conte, but this appointment has not been well-received by Napoli supporters.

Some Gri Azzurri fans were dissatisfied with the decision and started an online campaign of protest. They claim that the qualities of coach Allegri, who last won the Serie A championship with Juventus in 2018, do not match the club’s ambitions.

Despite winning numerous trophies during his career, Allegri’s most recent spell at Milan has been a disaster, and since his departure a few days ago there has been a major shake-up in the Italian side.

McTominay was his most impressive performance in Serie A since joining Napoli from United in 2024, helping the club win Serie A in his debut season.

His impressive form in Italy has sparked transfer speculation, with the Scotland international linked with a return to the Premier League, but Conte’s departure will add further fuel to those rumors.

McTominay joined former United teammate Hojlund in Italy last season, but the pair failed to help the club retain the Serie A title.

Napoli finished in second place, 11 points behind champions Inter Milan. Hoylund joined the southern Italian club on loan, but the move will be permanent for £38 million.

United have agreed a buyout clause for the Danish forward and the move will be completed if Napoli qualify for the Champions League.

The deal has not yet been made official, but Hojlund is expected to finalize his move to Napoli in the coming weeks. Conte’s departure from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona is not expected to affect the progress of the transfer.
