Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injury situation for his Arsenal squad ahead of this weekend’s Champions League final. The Gunners face current champions Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday night at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. Victory for Arsenal would cap off what has already been an extraordinary season.
Arteta’s side are enjoying their Premier League title victory after collecting the trophy at Selhurst Park last weekend. All eyes will now be on the showdown with PSG. The team has already traveled to Hungary and is making final touches in preparation for the match. With that in mind, here is the latest information from the treatment room as Arsenal look to get as many players fit and available as possible.
Manager Arteta confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Timber is fit to start. The full-back had traveled to Budapest with the Arsenal squad and expectations were high that he would be able to perform.
The goalkeeper missed the final Premier League game of the season against Crystal Palace due to back, hip and shoulder pain. However, he is in good shape and is expected to be available for the Champions League final.
The winger picked up the injury on the final day of the season against Palace, but is reported to have withdrawn as a precautionary measure. Arteta told PSG’s press conference that the England international was fine.
White suffered a serious knee injury in the win against West Ham United, which brought his season to a premature end.
Arteta previously said: “We’ll have to wait and see.”
“It looks like a long-term injury, so the focus at the moment is on when we can get him back to Arsenal. And that won’t happen for a number of weeks.”
