Andy Robertson’s next club twist after Tottenham transfer agreement | Soccer | Sports

Tottenham could fall back on their bid to sign Andy Robertson this summer, with Juventus reportedly set to enter the race for the left-back. Robertson played his last game for Liverpool on Sunday afternoon and will leave on a free transfer.

Spurs are the frontrunners to sign Robertson, who was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January. However, reports in Italy have added a second twist to the story, with Juventus said to have made an offer.

After a very disappointing season, Spurs will be hoping to make the most of the transfer window to avoid repeating history. The north London club survived relegation to the Championship with a 1-0 win over Everton on the final day of the season.

Robertson brings a wealth of Premier League experience and valuable knowledge of competing in enemy territory. During his nine years at Liverpool, he was a key member of the team that won two Premier League titles, one Champions League title, two League Cup titles and one FA Cup title.

The full-back will lead Scotland in preparation for this summer’s North American World Cup, which could potentially postpone a decision on his future.

The tournament begins on June 11th, with Scotland playing Haiti in the opening game three days later (kick-off at 2am). Other matches in Group C include Morocco (June 19th, 11pm) and Brazil (June 24th, 11pm).

Robertson previously commented on a potential move to Spurs in January, saying: “There was obviously an interest and there were discussions with both clubs.

“But the decision was that I wanted to stay. We stayed at Liverpool and that was the decision.”

Reflecting on his farewell appearance at Liverpool and the game leading up to it, he told Sky Sports:

“Posep Guardiola has pushed us to new limits. We could have won more Premier League titles without him. Seamus Coleman is leaving Everton and he has been a great servant to this football club.”

“I know that in a few years’ time we will both be welcomed back to this football club. This is an important chapter in our book, but this is not the end. First and foremost, we have to switch off and concentrate on the World Cup. We know that this is our family and we welcome you back.”
