Gary Neville scores within seconds of Tottenham securing Premier League safety with a 1-0 win over Everton

Gary Neville has told Tottenham Hotspur players to apologize to the club’s supporters, branding their performances this season “disgraceful”. After losing to Chelsea on Tuesday night, Spurs needed a draw or win against Everton this afternoon to guarantee survival.
And even though West Ham United beat Leeds United 3-0 at the London Stadium, Joao Parinha’s goal two minutes before the break was enough to ensure the team play in the Premier League next season. However, the campaign turned out to be a disaster for Spurs.
They have had three head coaches and set several undesirable records, including losing six consecutive games for the first time in club history and going 15 games without a win in the Premier League.
And just after the final whistle blew at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Neville said: “They were as comfortable as they could be today. Roberto De Zerbi got them over the line.”
“If I were the Tottenham players who I have absolutely humiliated over the last three months, they should go around this stadium and apologize en masse to the Tottenham fans because they come here every week, 60,000 fans every week come to this great ground and this great club and they are not being served well.

“But at least now they have time. Tottenham can reset in the summer and decide who they want on the bus and who they want off the bus, knowing that at least there will be Premier League football and the fans can go home in peace tonight.”
Former Spurs star Jamie Redknapp similarly criticized his former club’s season, which narrowly avoided relegation.
“There will be a mixture of utter joy and bewilderment because I have found myself in this position. But today we have to enjoy it, the fans, the players and the staff have to enjoy it. But tomorrow there will have to be a serious investigation into how this club of this stature and this fan base got into this predicament,” he said.
“That’s how I felt today, but something like this can’t happen again. It’s a big three points for them. De Zerbi came in and made a little bit of a change, but it wasn’t enough this season. It was unimaginable.”
After the game, Parinha said, “It’s a great feeling after a really tough season. We’ve had a lot going on this season, but today we showed what we’re capable of.”
“After such a bad season, we showed up united and had great support from the fans. The club will grow with this season and we know what we have to do in the future.”

“It’s a great pleasure to be here playing with a top manager and top team-mates. Even if I don’t get the position I deserve at Tottenham, I have to celebrate.”
Regarding the goal, the midfielder said: “It was just a goal. I was just trying to help the team. There was a lot of emotion and I wanted to dedicate it to my two sons and my parents.”
