Bruno Fernandes has had a sensational season at Manchester United and the club’s bosses are currently on a charm offensive to keep him at the club for the long term.
Manchester United bosses have made their thoughts on Bruno Fernandes very clear as they try to keep him at the club. The Portuguese midfielder has had a great season with the Red Devils this season.
He has eight goals and 20 assists in all competitions and has won a number of individual accolades including FWA Player of the Season. Fernandes received the award at a glitzy ceremony in London earlier this month.
Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox were also present to offer their support to United’s playmaker. This is a stark contrast to 12 months ago, when United were open to signing Fernandes.
Saudi Arabia’s Al Nasr had requested £80 million for his services, but former manager Ruben Amorim intervened to prevent him from leaving.
After claiming his latest award, Fernandes told Mirror Football: “Especially if you’ve been at a club for a long time, you’ll find it very difficult. Sometimes people want to see new faces and new people come in and try to win and recreate what other players have done in the past.”

“But every time I step on the pitch at Old Trafford, I really feel the love and support of the fans, because they believe in me as one of theirs. And I always try to recreate for them what they have seen time and time again when they come to Old Trafford.”
“I try my best to make them proud and at the same time make sure we are as successful as possible.”
Asked if the target would still be the trophy at Old Trafford, he added: “It’s always been the prize for me. That’s always been my goal. I’ve never hid from it. Like I said before, I’m not very good at hiding things!”
“I always say what I want to achieve. What I want to achieve is to win the league and win the Champions League. I will never hide that, just like I wanted to win the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. And we achieved that.”
“Unfortunately we couldn’t bring home the Europa League, but if we come back to the Europa League as a club, it’s my goal to win a trophy. I won’t hide.
“Of course, going into next season, we all know that the aim of this club always has to be winning. I don’t think when players choose to come to Man United in the first place it’s not just because they want to put on the shirt.”
“It was a huge feeling to leave at Old Trafford, it was my dream. But I had that dream because I knew this club could win things and come close to winning the Premier League and the Champions League. That’s why I came to this club.”
Fernandes has one year left on his contract with United, but the club have the option to extend it for further campaigns.
