Atalanta midfielder Ederson has reportedly made up his mind about a potential move to Manchester United. The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian and it now looks very likely that the midfielder will complete a move to Old Trafford.
The Manchester Evening News reported on Saturday that United are making significant progress in signing the midfielder, who could become the club’s first summer signing.
Some media outlets even claim that a verbal agreement has already been reached between United and Atalanta for the 26-year-old ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Ederson is giving United every opportunity to make a deal by refusing to enter into negotiations with rival clubs.
A prominent transfer expert has revealed that Ederson has “paused” negotiations with other interested parties and is focusing his full attention on United as the Red Devils and Atalanta work towards a deal.
United are said to be in talks to sign Ederson this summer, but have yet to make a final decision to confirm the midfielder’s permanent move to Old Trafford.
United are widely reported to be considering adding midfield reinforcements when the summer transfer window opens, as they look to find a replacement for Casemiro, who is due to leave at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Atalanta are said to value Ederson at £38.3m, including an initial fee of £34.5m and further add-ons.
Atalanta manager Raffaele Palladino recently provided an update on Ederson’s future after he came on as an unused substitute in Friday night’s Serie A game against Fiorentina.
“Ederson leaving? Something is happening in the transfer market, so it was a decision that we agreed with the boy,” Paladino said.
“The fact that a player like that is being pursued by such a big club should be a source of pride.”
Ederson is not the only midfielder linked with a move to United this summer, with Nottingham Forest star Elliott Anderson also a target.
Anderson is thought to be on United’s shortlist of potential signings, with Manchester City also said to be interested in the England international, who is reportedly worth around £100m.
