Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United face a tense final day of the 2025/26 Premier League season, with the final relegation battle set to be decided if the former draw with Chelsea
It will be a final-day penalty shootout between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in a bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League. Both clubs are in real danger of slipping into the Championship ahead of the final weekend of the 2025/26 season, which could go either way.
Roberto De Zerbi’s Spurs had a real chance of sealing their place in the Premier League on Tuesday night against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. All they had to do was avoid defeat at Stamford Bridge to seal their place and relegate West Ham in the process.
However, goals from Enzo Fernandes and Andrei Santos saw the North Londoners suffer yet another defeat despite Richarlison’s goal. But fortunately for Spurs, it’s a simple equation heading into the final day of the campaign.
All they need to survive is to avoid defeat against Everton on the final day and hope West Ham don’t score 12 goals in their final game against Leeds. Regardless of whether the Hammers win or not, a win will guarantee them a place in the Premier League.
Even if Spurs lose, West Ham will have to be very careful not to beat Leeds. If that happens, it will likely be West Ham who stays, not Spurs.

Away from the relegation battle, the title race was decided on a dramatic Tuesday night. Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal have officially been crowned Premier League champions.
The Gunners moved to the brink of the title with a 1-0 win at Burnley on Monday night. They were able to celebrate just 24 hours later after Bournemouth held off Josep Guardiola’s Manchester City to a draw.
The result is likely to be enough for Bournemouth to seal a top eight place in the Premier League and for the Cherries to qualify for Europe.
If they win, they will be in a final-day battle for a spot in the Champions League, but they need to score six goals on the final day to swap places with Liverpool.
Beyond Europe, there are still many clubs considering participation in continental competitions. Brighton, Chelsea, Brentford and Sunderland could all move into the top eight on the final day.
