Barcelona manager Hansi Flick continues to support the signing of Marcus Rashford and has expressed his satisfaction with his performance in Catalonia. However, according to Spanish outlet Cadena SER, Flick has made it clear to the loanee that the final decision does not rest solely with him.
The Catalan giants have a £26m buy option to sign him on loan with United. This financial commitment means there is considerable speculation as to whether Barça are ready to activate it.
Rashford is said to be “exploring options” to facilitate a move, with either his intention to take a significant pay cut to sign with the club or agree to a long-term deal that would allow him to amortize the transfer fee over time. The England international is keen to remain at Camp Nou.
Rashford said after winning the league: “This is the perfect ending I wanted. I’m very happy. I just want to enjoy today.”
“I’m living in the moment. We’ll see at the end of the season.
“I came here to win and we’re achieving this, so I’m very happy. It’s an incredible feeling.
“We deserved it all season long. We were the best team. We had some bad times, but we always come back and fight to get better.”
If Barcelona show hesitation, Real Madrid may take a more forceful approach to negotiations. Manager Jose Mourinho is expected to return to the Spanish capital and has reportedly named Rashford as a key target due to their shared history at Old Trafford.
Mourinho believes the winger will be a valuable addition to his team as they look to increase their depth and competitiveness. Such a move could similarly destabilize Barcelona’s pursuit.
The Portuguese coach will be announced as Los Blancos’ new manager at the end of the season and is expected to be unveiled in Madrid next week. He will sign a two-year contract.
