England will announce their 26-man squad for the World Cup on Friday, but leaks have already begun to surface. Manager Thomas Tuchel named a provisional 35-strong group in March for friendlies against Uruguay and Japan, but the German will now have to whittle that squad down to just 26 players.
Of course, some things are a given. Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice can all be expected to get on the plane. However, the likes of Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Trent Alexander-Arnold are at risk of missing out, and some may be waiting nervously on the phone for a call-up from Tuchel.
A number of factors went into Tuchel’s team selection as he prepares for his first tournament as international manager. There is no doubt that there will be a lot of discussion before and after the member announcement. Stay tuned as Express Sport will bring you all the latest updates.
