Arsenal players and staff celebrated all night after Manchester City’s failure at Bournemouth ensured the Gunners’ Premier League win

May 20, 2026 10:00Updated May 20, 2026 10:03

Mikel Arteta is a Premier League title-winning manager and a great party planner.

Gunners manager Arteta was the brains behind his team’s celebrations after Arsenal won their first title in 22 years. Arteta sent a WhatsApp message just after 11pm on Monday night after Arsenal’s win over Burnley, allowing his players to watch the game together and then party together afterwards.

They did not even take for granted that they would beat Burnley, so the plan was put into action only after they had done their part. Arsenal’s squad trained on Tuesday, but all the players were due to gather at their headquarters in London Colney to watch Manchester City’s trip to Bournemouth.

It will never be a stage-managed party like the one Jamie Vardy hosted at his home when Leicester celebrated winning the title after Tottenham were ousted by Chelsea in 2016. Cameras and video agencies were on hand that night, but there were no guarantees for Arsenal, even though City knew they had to win at Bournemouth to stay in the title race until the final day.

Arsenal’s players trained and watched the games along with their staff and coaches, but one key person was missing: Arteta himself.

It was such an emotional season that Arteta went home and let his players enjoy the evening and watch the game with their families.

Once Arsenal players confirmed City had dropped a point, a party broke out on the training ground. Players posted on social media and the club’s photographer was also there, with Arsenal’s stars jumping into the pool to celebrate an unforgettable night.

Arteta also congratulated the traveling players after the game, with several members of the team heading out into central London to celebrate. The match ended with Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Julian Timber and Eberechi Eze toasting the title outside the Emirates at 5am.

Practice was on a Tuesday, few players drink to excess these days, and if it had been on the final day there would have been no celebration.

There is now a bit of downtime before a big UEFA media event takes place on Thursday in preparation for the Champions League final in Budapest on Saturday week. They will then head to Crystal Palace on Sunday for a trophy lift and further celebrations, before enjoying a sumptuous meal in central London that evening.

It’s become quite a tradition to have a meal and social gathering at a London hotel after the final game of the season, but this one will feel even more special.
