Jamie Carragher has criticized Curtis Jones after the Liverpool midfielder responded to Mohamed Salah’s recent social media posts.

Salah, 33, announced in late March that he would be leaving the Reds at the end of the season, and after Friday’s 4-2 loss to Aston Villa, Salah, 33, issued a scathing criticism of the club and appeared to point the finger at Arne Slott.

“I have witnessed this club grow from doubters to believers and from believers to champions. It has taken a lot of hard work, but I have always given my all to help the club get there and I could not be more proud of you,” Salah said.

“To have this season come crashing down with yet another defeat was extremely heartbreaking and not what the fans deserved. I want to see Liverpool get back to being the heavy metal attacking team that their opponents fear, and the team that wins trophies.”

“That’s the football I know how to play and it’s an identity that needs to be recovered and held forever. It’s non-negotiable and everyone who joins this club has to adapt to it.”

“Winning a game here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. Every team wins games. Liverpool will always be a club that means a lot to me and to my family.

“I want to see success long after my transfer. As I have always said, the minimum requirement is to qualify for next season’s Champions League, and I will do everything in my power to make that happen.”

Jones responded to Salah’s comments with a clap emoji, while another Liverpool player, Hugo Ekitike, also dropped a handshake emoji at the bottom of his post.

However, Mr Carragher appears to disagree with Mr Jones’ decision to take part in the debate and feels he should have distanced himself from the dispute.

Sharing his thoughts on ‘overlapping sticks to football’, Carragher said: “I think Curtis Jones commented on that, right? It was like a clap emoji. I thought it was a little weird. I thought Jesus was saying, ‘This is why we don’t play heavy metal football because we have a player in our team who looks a bit like Curtis Jones.'”

“He touches the ball six times before passing. I thought, ‘Good luck son, don’t mess with that.’ Let Salah do what he wants. He’s leaving. I don’t really care. I guess they all respect Mo Salah… I thought it was stupid of them all to do that.”

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundles to include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, plus 135 channels and complete coverage of the Premier League and EFL from Sky.

Sky has over 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more, with at least 215 of those live from the top flight, along with F1, darts and golf.

The former Liverpool defender added: “At the beginning of the season he said he was going to sack the manager. Now, whether people agree with me or not, it has been proven by him coming out and doing it again. This idea is that he is doing it for Liverpool FC, but he is not. He is only Salah FC playing for Liverpool.”

Salah only has one more game left for Liverpool, Sunday’s home match against Brentford. He will be leaving Anfield along with long-time team-mate and left-back Andy Robertson.
