Declan Rice could finally declare it ‘done’ after Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions.
The England midfielder infamously insisted the title race was still alive after the Gunners’ disastrous defeat to Manchester City earlier this season. However, he took to Instagram just moments after Arsenal clinched the title, uploading a photo of himself and his team-mates with the caption: “All said and done… it’s over,” along with red heart and trophy emojis.
His post referred to the midfielder being seen telling captain Martin Odegaard: “It’s not over yet” shortly after the defeat against Man City, after City appeared to have taken control of the title race.
Arsenal were confirmed as Premier League champions after Man City drew 1-1 with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night. Erling Haaland scored an equalizer in the final minute, worrying the Arsenal fans watching, but the goal was too little too late for City.
The Gunners will lift the Premier League trophy on Sunday afternoon after the final game of the season. Mikel Arteta’s side face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
After Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Burnley on Monday night, Arteta confirmed he would be rooting for Bournemouth against City. “I don’t know how long I’ll see it,” he said.
“You’re in front of the TV, but you don’t know how much you’ll be able to see. That’s the reality.
I plan to watch it with my family, but I don’t know how long it will last. ”
Asked if he would be a Bournemouth fan, he said: “I’m the biggest fan ever. I think for Andoni (Iraola) and all the players and all the people who are Bournemouth supporters, we all are. I know that means they’ll have our support tomorrow.”
