Mohamed Salah shared an explosive social media post over the weekend about Liverpool’s poor form this season, and his rant polarized opinion online.
Manager Gary Neville has criticized Mohamed Salah for his social media rant about Liverpool’s poor form, saying he would be “furious” if a Manchester United player had behaved in the same way.
Salah announced in March that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season and will play his final game for the club against Brentford at Anfield on Sunday. However, scrutiny has increased on Arne Slott, with the 33-year-old’s final season in a red shirt proving to be a disappointing one for both the club and the club.
Liverpool’s 4-2 loss to Aston Villa on Friday night means the reigning Premier League champions are not guaranteed a spot in next season’s Champions League ahead of the final game of the season.
And Salah appears to have once again hit out at Liverpool’s embattled head coach, who he targeted in an explosive mixed-zone interview midway through the season as he called for a return to the “heavy metal” attacking football that was synonymous with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Neville criticized Salah’s recent bombshell in an interview with Sky Sports, which is also unlikely to go down well with the head coach.
“He pulled the pin out of a grenade in the middle of the room and was walking out of the room,” Neville said. “Mo is not happy there.
“It’s not great. If he was a Manchester United player, I’d be furious. But what you can never do with a player of this kind of stature and character is shut them up. If they have something to say, they’ll say it. And they’ll say it where you don’t want to hear it.”
“That was a convincing comment. Arne Slott will never appreciate it, but I think he just wants to get to the end of the season and get out of there and try to get everyone out of there who is not going to be there next season and then try to build.”
Slott has come under intense scrutiny in recent months, with further criticism directed at the former Ajax manager following a heartbreaking defeat to Aston Villa, who sit fourth in the Premier League ahead of Liverpool.
However, Neville believes Xabi Alonso’s move to Chelsea is a clear sign that Liverpool will maintain faith in the slot next season.
“The signing of Xabi Alonso told me that Liverpool intend to keep their manager,” Neville added.
“I’m happy about that. The manager who won the league 12 months ago deserves another chance to get things right, having had a more difficult season this time. He’s still in the Champions League. But Salah’s comments won’t help.”
