Arsenal’s attention is firmly on the Premier League final and Champions League final. However, once the season begins, transfer activity inevitably accompanies it. The Gunners had little hesitation in spending big last summer, spending more than £250m on the likes of Victor Gokeres, Eberechi Eze, Martin Zvimendi, Noni Madueke and Cristian Mosquera.

Arteta is already planning his first move for next season, securing defender Piero Hincapie’s permanent move. But the north London outfit may have further ambitions beyond that. Arsenal have been linked with a raid for Newcastle star Sandro Tonali, with new details about his future revealed. Express Sport brings you the latest Arsenal news…

Sandro Tonali in the shop window

Tonali has been nothing short of an inspiration for the Magpies since joining for £55m in 2023, but the Italian has found himself at the center of considerable transfer speculation since the January transfer window drew to a close.

Corriere della Sera report that the 26-year-old is currently on the market and Arsenal are one of the clubs vying for his signature. However, the Italian publication claims Manchester United are currently leading the chase. The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for Tonali in January, but Newcastle had already tied up his future.

In October, it was revealed that the Italian player had secretly signed a one-year contract extension during his 10-month gambling ban. Tonali’s contract with Newcastle runs until 2029, and the publication reports that the Magpies would demand a transfer fee of around £87m if he leaves.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is also believed to be on the radar of Arsenal, with the Gunners reportedly leading the chase this time around.

L’Equipe claimed that Barcola, whose PSG side will face Arsenal in the Champions League final later this month, could be released in the summer as the club look for a new forward.

Barcola’s contract runs until 2028, and reports suggest both Arsenal and Liverpool are interested. However, it is Arteta’s team who are currently leading the race.

Arne Slott’s side have eased their pursuit of the 23-year-old and Arsenal may want to strengthen their wider options given Bukayo Saka’s injury concerns. Barcola will reportedly demand a transfer fee of £80 million.

The Frenchman was substituted during PSG’s 2-0 win over Reims, but coach Luis Enrique was clearly reticent when asked for an explanation.

He said: “What I can say here is that I can’t say anything. I don’t have any information that matters to you. You think what you think. I don’t have to explain anything. But it’s very clear.”
