Marcus Rashford, Manchester United star takes action, “terminating agreement with Barcelona” Soccer | Sports

Marcus Rashford is reportedly willing to go to great lengths to secure a permanent move to Barcelona. The Manchester United forward, who spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Camp Nou, is determined to remain in Catalonia beyond the summer.

Barcelona and United have been in talks for months, but Rashford’s future remains in limbo with the clubs still unable to find common ground. United are sticking to their £26.2m valuation for the player, but Barcelona are currently unwilling to match that amount. However, it is now believed that Mr Rashford is prepared to make significant sacrifices to facilitate this move.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Rashford has already agreed a three-year contract with Barcelona, which includes a 40% cut in his salary at Old Trafford.

However, with negotiations stalled, he is now prepared to scrap that deal and sign a five-year deal instead, believing it may be the only way to make a move financially viable.

Barcelona’s widely reported financial woes have made negotiations more complicated, with the club hoping for another loan deal rather than a permanent deal. The complex issue centers on how the £26.2m fee will be amortized over the length of Rashford’s contract, which will impact on the club’s accounts.

However, United have refused to approve further temporary transfers, insisting that Rashford must either leave permanently or remain at the club.

As a result, Rashford is willing to extend his proposed contract to five years, which would allow Barcelona to spread the transfer cost over a longer period of time and significantly reduce their annual financial burden.

Rashford has played 48 games for Barcelona, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists, and Barcelona are happy with his performances this season.

A return to Old Trafford has not been completely ruled out, as Ruben Amorim, who had a souring relationship with United under Rashford, is not currently in charge, with Rashford’s former teammate Michael Carrick expected to take over as permanent manager in the coming days.

Despite this, Rashford’s desire has remained the same throughout the season and he wants to remain at Barcelona. Despite a managerial change in Manchester and the possibility of a clean slate, there is scant evidence that his position on a permanent move to Spain has changed.
