The battle for the Premier League title between Arsenal and Manchester City unfolded against the backdrop of one of the challengers awaiting the verdict of an important investigation. Citi is accused of breaching Financial Fair Play regulations between 2009 and 2018.
Initially, 115 violations were alleged, but that number has reportedly increased to 130 now. The lawsuit began in September 2024, and almost two years later, no conclusion has been reached. Some wondered if the Gunners’ name would be left with an asterisk in the verdict this season if their main rivals received a points deduction or other sporting sanction.
A source of reassurance for those involved is the assessment of financial expert Stefan Bolson, featured on talkSPORT this week. On the White and Jordan show, Bolson said: “I think it will be soon, but then I told you before, right?
“My best guess and the feeling at the party is that it will come at the end of the season – most likely June, something like that.
“There is currently no justification for how long it will take to write this.
“This is ridiculous territory. It’s obviously ridiculous that it takes 18 months to reach a decision in private arbitration.
“I’ve heard little things that indicate that I’m nearing the end of the process of writing this document.”
This would ultimately suggest that Arsenal could secure the title and that supporters could relax and await the verdict.
No matter what happens, no matter the verdict that follows, you can be safe in the knowledge that after successfully defeating Pep Guardiola’s team, any outcome will happen.
