Liverpool were booed by fans during their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, and goalscorer Ryan Gravenbirch felt the reaction was harsh.
Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenbirch believes his team did not deserve to be booed by supporters after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Anfield.
Just five minutes later, Grabenberch broke the deadlock with a superb strike and Enzo Fernandes leveled the score with a low free-kick into the Kop end. When Arne Slott removed Rio Ngmoha midway through the second half and replaced him with Alexander Isak, Reds supporters immediately voiced their displeasure.
When the final whistle blew, many booed again, but Gravenbirch felt the reaction was unwarranted.
In response to the second wave of heckling, Gravenbirch told TNT Sports: “To be honest, we need them (the fans) to support us.

“Obviously we didn’t win, but I really don’t think we deserved this (reaction). The fans need to be behind us for the whole 90 minutes. We pressed really well in the second half when they were behind us. We need them. I hope they don’t repeat that in the next two games,” reports the Liverpool Echo.
Noting that he was unable to maintain the advantage he gave the Reds with his own goals, Grabenbirch continued: “Of course we have to share the points so (we’re disappointed).
“We wanted three points, but obviously they’re a very good team and they’re playing well here, so I think in the end they deserved one point too.”
“We created a chance with the two goals from Dom (Szoboszlai). If we had been a little more lucky, we would have converted it. In the end we didn’t, so it’s a little disappointing.” Graben-Birch added: “It hasn’t been a great season for us. We still have two games left and we have to win them to secure a spot in the Champions League.”
