Chelsea have had a disastrous season this season, and a strong message has been sent to the Blues that unless major changes are made, their downturn could turn into something a little more alarming.

Roy Keane and Gary Neville have warned Chelsea could be in big trouble next season if they don’t halt their worrying slide. The Blues have endured a miserable season this season.

With only three games remaining this season, they are in 9th place in the Premier League standings. The west London club will also have a third manager this season, with Callum MacFarlane taking charge until the end of the season following the departures of Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.

In the latest episode of Stick to Football, Keane and Neville, along with guests Paul Scholes, Jill Scott and Ian Wright, discussed a number of alternative post-season awards, including the most beleaguered club, with Chelsea being the unanimous choice.

“I don’t think they know where they’re going,” Neville said, to which manager Ian Wright replied: “What’s going on with Chelsea at the moment? I can see Chelsea collapsing.”

Chelsea’s situation could get even worse between now and the end of the season. If they lose each of their final three games and have unfavorable results in the remaining games of the season, they could drop to 16th in the standings.

Caretaker manager McFarlane said everyone at Chelsea was keen to turn things around. Speaking ahead of this weekend’s match against Liverpool, he said: “The players, myself, the staff and everyone at the club know that their recent performances have been far from the expected standard and we will do everything we can to improve that.”

“We want to turn things around. We know the standards that this club has set and at the moment we are not living up to them. And the only thing we can control is how we behave and behave every day and how hard we work to turn that level of performance around.”

“There’s a lot of foundation for this team to be successful. Right now we’re not performing as well as we should, but I think there’s a foundation for this team to be successful.”

Following the match against Liverpool, Chelsea will face Manchester City in the FA Cup final, which will likely be their last chance for a silver medal this season and a place in European football. They will then face Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland in their final two Premier League games.
