Real Madrid have been in turmoil this week after star players Aurélien Choameny and Federico Valverde were involved in a locker room brawl, with legendary Luis Figo calling out.

Real Madrid icon Luis Figo has warned that there could be more locker room fights within the club. The Spanish giants have endured an explosive season this season.

Xabi Alonso took over the reins and started, but was sacked after disappointing results and reports of disorder in the dressing room. The situation has not improved under his successor, Alvaro Arbeloa.

Real will end the season without a trophy, but things have changed dramatically in recent days, with midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurelien Cioameny getting into an altercation in the dressing room.

Los Blancos confirmed that each player had been fined following the incident. But Figo believes this will not prevent future disagreements from erupting.

“They both have too much energy,” said the former Portugal winger. “This is not normal and should not happen within a team environment, but this will not be the first or last time something like this happens.”

He added: “When players are frustrated, they can react in unusual ways. Real Madrid have already issued a statement on this matter, so I cannot add anything further.”

Uruguay representative Valverde has already commented on the match against Choameni. “Yesterday, I had an accident with a teammate during practice. With the fatigue and frustration of competing, everything felt out of proportion,” he said in a lengthy statement.

“In a normal dressing room, things like this can happen and are often resolved internally without being publicized. Obviously someone here is spreading the rumors and in a non-title season Real Madrid are under constant scrutiny, so everything is thrown out of proportion.”

“Today we had another disagreement. During an argument, I accidentally hit the table and got a small cut on my forehead, which required a regular visit to the hospital. My teammate never hit me, and I didn’t hit him either.”

“I feel that my anger at the situation and the frustration of seeing some guys trying their best to get through the end of the season led me to the point where I got into an argument with my teammates.

“I’m sorry. This situation is painful for me and I am truly sorry. This moment that we are experiencing is painful. Real Madrid is one of the most important things in my life and I cannot remain indifferent to it.”

“As a result, there is room for suspicion that irrational disputes will build up, tarnish my image, and add fuel to the fire of accidents.

“I didn’t want to speak out until the end of the season. We were knocked out of the Champions League and I kept my anger and resentment to myself.

“I wasted another year and I wasn’t in a position to post on social media when the only face I had to show was on the field and I feel like that’s what I did.

“That’s why I am the most saddened and heartbroken to be going through this situation where I am unable to play the next game due to a medical decision.

“I have always given my all until the end, and it hurts me more than anyone to not be able to do that. I am ready to cooperate with the club and my teammates on any decisions they deem necessary. Thank you.”

Real Madrid will be back in action this weekend when they face rivals Barcelona in the Clasico. If Real Madrid do not win, the Catalans will be crowned Spanish champions.
