Frank Lampard’s stock has risen significantly after leading Coventry to the Championship title, with Crystal Palace eyeing him to replace Oliver Glasner
Frank Lampard has been approached to become Crystal Palace’s next manager, with Coventry’s future in the Midlands far from guaranteed despite their promotion.
The 47-year-old has just led Coventry to the Championship title, ending a 25-year absence from the Premier League, but his exploits have attracted the attention of the Eagles, who need a replacement for the departing Oliver Glasner.
The Sun understands that Lampard, who has first-class experience at Chelsea and Everton, is set to take over at Selhurst Park. Fulham themselves are keen, but they will have to wait and see if Marco Silva extends his contract.
Lampard, who has been linked with a third stint at Chelsea, is thought to be considering his options despite having just celebrated promotion.
Coventry may have won the title, but there will naturally be questions about whether they can remain a Premier League team in the long term. Sky Blues owner Doug King is unlikely to have the resources to devote to the team, with King himself openly admitting he may struggle to hang on as manager this summer.

Lampard has 12 months left on his current deal and will likely be offered an improved deal, but King is unlikely to stand in his way if he wants to move elsewhere. Palace believe they can continue the success Glasner has brought to south London under Lampard.
The Eagles have been in the Premier League since 2013 and won last year’s FA Cup. Glasner could be fit to join the club in the Europa Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig later this month.
Palace were publicly criticized by manager Glasner for letting top players leave after Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi left within six months of each other. But similarly, the club spent £78 million to sign Brennan Johnson and Jorgen Strand Larsen in January.
This season, Leeds and Sunderland ended the trend of promoted teams falling behind all at once. Prior to that, all three teams that had been promoted for two years in a row were immediately relegated to the second division.
