Bournemouth are investigating a number of social media posts regarding defender Alex Jimenez, who recently joined Cherries on a permanent deal from AC Milan.
Bournemouth have suspended defender Alex Jimenez ahead of their game against Fulham pending an investigation. The Premier League club is investigating posts on social media about Jimenez, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Friday.
A statement said: “AFC Bournemouth is aware that a post regarding right-back Alex Jimenez has been circulating on social media. The club understands the seriousness of the matter and is currently investigating.”
“As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Fulham and the club will not be making any further comment at this time.”
Jimenez joined Bournemouth on loan from AC Milan in September 2025, but made his move permanent for £16.5m earlier this year. The Spaniard has signed a contract until 2031.
Jimenez, who played in 32 games, was expected to feature at Craven Cottage before the allegations surfaced on Friday morning. However, the former Real Madrid academy player is currently not involved due to the investigation.
Born in Leganes, Spain, Jiménez played for both Talavera CF and UD Talavera before moving to Madrid. He has represented Spain at Under-15, Under-17, 19 and Under-21 level.
After joining Milan on loan in July 2023, the Italian giants activated a £4.3m option for Jimenez in the second half of the season. At San Siro, he played 23 games for the first team.
Jimenez scored one goal for Bournemouth in a 3-2 home win over Liverpool in January. He helped Andoni Iraola’s side climb into sixth place with three games in hand.
If they finish in the top six, Bournemouth could qualify for the Champions League for the first time in the club’s 127-year history. That’s because Aston Villa, who are currently in fifth place, have advanced to the final of the Europa League.
