Manchester United are poised to be busy in the transfer market this summer as they prepare to compete on multiple fronts next season. They secured a spot in the Champions League with a 3-2 win over Liverpool at the weekend and are on the verge of returning to European competition for the first time in a year.
United have flourished since Michael Carrick took over on an interim basis. Under the former club captain, they won 10 of their 14 games and moved up to third place in the Premier League standings. With only three games left in the season, club hierarchy will begin to turn their attention to the summer transfer window. There have been several rumors circulating and expectations continue to rise regarding United’s revamped squad next year.
Let’s see how their dream transfer window unfolds…
United’s main focus this summer was to revamp their midfield, with Casemiro ending his association with the club after four years.
The Brazilian confirmed his departure from Old Trafford earlier this year, announcing that he would leave at the end of the 2025/26 season.
With one key player headed for the door, more stars could be asked to leave. Manuel Ugarte has been linked with a move to AC Milan, meaning another team member could be taken off the payroll.
United are rumored to have a number of midfield targets, including Real Madrid playmaker Aurelien Choameny.
The La Liga giants value him at more than £70m and will only allow him to leave if they acquire one midfield target. His signing would be seen as a real coup as United return to the Champions League.
Atalanta star Ederson’s name has also been mentioned, with reports saying the 26-year-old has a price tag of around £43 million. However, signing both players would require a total outlay of around £113m.
Given that midfield is the area in need of the most urgent attention this summer, it would be no surprise if United invest the most heavily there to complement the talents of Koby Mainu and Bruno Fernandes.
United have a keen eye across the continent but, as they showed last summer, they are not opposed to signing proven Premier League talent.
Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly is one of the names the club is eyeing as a long-term successor to Luke Shaw. United could command a transfer fee of around £50m, while Arsenal are said to have set a combined price tag of £100m for Louis Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season last season but has since struggled to secure regular first-team football due to strong performances from Piero Hincapie.

He may see a move to United as a chance for a fresh start, following in the footsteps of Aiden Haven and Chido Obi-Martin, who moved to Old Trafford.
Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has also been named as another midfielder United are interested in signing.
Despite interest from Real Madrid, the Italian wants to remain in England if he leaves St James’ Park this summer, according to reports.
Newcastle are said to have placed a £100m price tag on him, but it is thought they could agree a reduced fee.
Rashford’s replacement arrives
Marcus Rashford looks set to leave United this summer after an impressive loan spell at Barcelona this season. The 28-year-old has contributed 27 goals in 46 appearances for the La Liga club and has attracted interest from two of Europe’s biggest players.
Barça are considering negotiating a new loan deal or a reduced transfer fee, while Arsenal and Bayern Munich are reportedly “monitoring the situation” regarding the England international.
United could move quickly to sign a replacement for the winger, with Rashford’s £315,000-a-week wages reportedly being taken off the payroll.
Rafael Leao has reportedly emerged as a player keen to sign, with a potential cash deal with Ugarte being discussed.
AC Milan are said to value the 26-year-old at around £52 million, with Calciomercato suggesting the winger will not be ‘untouchable’ this summer.
