Paris Saint-Germain’s players will perform significantly better in their UEFA Champions League campaign thanks to the brand supported by Cristiano Ronaldo. The French giants have announced a partnership with WHOOP, a health and fitness wearable brand that will bring cutting-edge performance science to PSG’s men’s and women’s teams.

The agreement, which runs until 2029, will put PSG at the forefront of sporting innovation, enabling players and staff to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing based on scientific data. WHOOP’s wearables compete with rival brands such as Google Fitbit and Samsung Galaxy, offering a comprehensive range of health and fitness insights through screen-less devices and membership programs.

The gadget has already been worn by many top footballers and athletes, including Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, Masters champion Rory McIlroy and Ronaldo. In a video posted on the WHOOP website, the former Manchester United star said he uses the device “every day”.

“I use it day in and day out,” Ronaldo said. “It’s a good tool to help your health.”

WHOOP provides intelligent guidance around the clock on sleep, recovery, tension, fitness and longevity, covering everything from blood pressure to Advanced Labs blood biomarker analysis. According to WHOOP’s own research, people who wear the device every day get more than 90 minutes of extra exercise each week, Express reports.

WHOOP is offering a one-month free trial of its wearable gadgets and Peak membership program.

Users are also said to get over two hours of extra sleep and benefit from a 10% increase in heart rate variability. WHOOP is currently offering a one-month free trial of the device alongside its Peak membership plan, giving consumers the opportunity to use the exact same technology worn by elite athletes.

However, please note that WHOOP works without a screen and is not intended for functionality such as sending text messages or viewing social media. These features are available alongside health and fitness metrics on competing devices such as the latest Apple Watch Series 11.

The partnership announcement comes as PSG prepares for the semi-final second leg against Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. On Tuesday (April 28), the European title holders hosted the German team at the Parc des Princes, with both teams scoring a record-breaking nine goals to make it 5-4 in one of the great, must-see soccer matches in recent memory.

The deal will give PSG players access to WHOOP’s cutting-edge wearable technology, providing detailed health insights across key physiological indicators such as heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep, tension and stress. These insights are translated into personalized recommendations aimed at optimizing training, recovery and overall performance during your club’s important end-of-season matches.

PSG and WHOOP are working together towards the common goal of “redefining the standards of elite sport by putting athlete health at the center of performance decisions.” By combining WHOOP’s technical know-how with PSG’s sporting prowess, this partnership aims to push the boundaries of physical preparation even further.

Announcing the collaboration, WHOOP’s Vice President of Global Marketing Brian Curtin said: “Paris Saint-Germain is one of the world’s most influential brands, not just in the world of sport, but across global culture. By partnering with PSG, WHOOP will be at the center of that influence, allowing us to reach new audiences while working with a club that sets standards of excellence.”

“Together, we are redefining performance and giving athletes and fans the tools to understand their bodies, train smarter, recover better and perform at their best.”

WHOOP has amassed thousands of glowing reviews about Trustpilot, with users describing it as an “essential part” of their daily lives.

One 5-star review reads, “I’ve been using WHOOP for the past 3 years and it has become an essential part of my daily life.” “I can’t imagine life without it. From managing stress and exercise to understanding sleep patterns, it provides valuable statistical insights that help me maintain balance. WHOOP highlights unhealthy habits, continuously monitors my key metrics, and supports me in making more informed, healthier lifestyle choices.”

Another user said, “I’ve been using Whoop for years and, although it’s a bit pricey, I appreciate the consistency and free device upgrades.”

Despite giving it 5 stars, the same WHOOP customer added: “Support has been a bit frustrating recently as it seems to have been replaced by AI chat bots, but I haven’t needed help very often.”

Meanwhile, another enthusiastic reviewer said: “WHOOP has helped me optimize my health and fitness. It’s a great tool for achieving my fitness goals and provides invaluable insight from all the personal data it tracks. I’ve seen how this has evolved over the years and it’s easy to see that the company and the individuals running it care about improving the experience with the consumer in mind. I love it and recommend it to everyone who wants to feel their best.”
