Liverpool have scrapped controversial plans to increase ticket prices year-on-year until the 2028/29 season. The proposal was fiercely opposed by Reds supporters, with many taking part in protests inside Anfield in recent months. During last month’s match against Crystal Palace, fans turned the stadium into a sea of yellow in a massive demonstration against the planned price rise.
Supporters brandished yellow cards in the 13th minute to express their dissatisfaction with the increase that was revealed in March. A 3% price increase for next season is being discussed, with further inflation-linked increases planned for 2027/28 and 2028/29. However, that plan has now been revised and will be welcomed by many Liverpool fans.
The inflation-based 3% increase in general admission prices for next season will be maintained, but prices will be frozen for the 2027/28 season.
In a statement, the Liverpool Supporters’ Board said it welcomed the decision and looked forward to holding further discussions with the club to discuss the new proposal.
“While we understand that the increase in ticket prices for next season will leave some disappointed, we would like to assure our fans that there will be no increase next season and that we will continue to negotiate with the club and do our best to find alternative ways to prevent ticket price increases in the future.”
“I would like to thank the people at LFC for listening to us and working with us. Not all club hierarchies have done the same, and we look forward to working with them to find a way forward that benefits everyone.”
“I’d also like to thank you for supporting us, helping handing out leaflets, protesting and making sure your voice was heard. We couldn’t have gotten this far without you. There are only two games left at Anfield this season. Let’s enjoy it.”
Liverpool released their own statement, saying: “Following further dialogue with the Supporters’ Board, the club can confirm that the inflation rate for general admission tickets for the 2026/27 season will be increased by 3%, followed by a price freeze for the 2027/28 season.”

“Further discussions will take place with the Supporters’ Board for the upcoming season. The club and the Supporters’ Board will take advantage of the certainty of these seasons to explore long-term alternative solutions across the match, avoid future ticket price increases and explore commercial ideas with the Supporters’ Board to address issues around affordability and accessibility for future generations.”
“The club is also pleased to confirm that we will be establishing a young adult section within the Anfield Road Stand at Anfield, but further details will be provided in due course.
“LFC believes that absent widespread progress on alternative solutions, future inflation increases may still be necessary, including into the 2028/29 season, and we will continue to engage with our supporters.”
“The club and the Supporters Board are fully committed to finding a long-term solution that is in everyone’s interests.
“The club also remains committed to addressing cost issues responsibly by providing advance notice to supporters and ensuring financial planning in order to remain competitive at the highest level of football.”
