There appears to be a rift within Real Madrid, and amidst the drama, an incident involving a former Manchester United player has come to light.
Former Manchester United defender Alvaro Carreras was reportedly slapped by Real Madrid teammate Antonio Rudiger during a heated argument. There appears to be a division within the Whites squad.
Kylian Mbappé is also at the center of controversy after allegedly having a huge argument with manager Alvaro Arbeloa’s staff, while incidents involving Rudiger and Carreras have also surfaced. The former Chelsea defender reportedly “lost his mind” at Carreras, with reports from Spain claiming the Germany international defender slapped the left-back.
The incident comes amid claims that Carreras’ commitment is being widely questioned by coaches and club officials. When these stories reached the media, the defender issued a statement defending himself.

“In recent days, insinuations and comments have surfaced about me that do not reflect reality. My commitment to this club and the coaches I have worked with has been absolute from day one and will continue to be so,” Carreras said.
“Since returning home, I have always worked with the utmost professionalism, respect and dedication. I have fought hard to realize my dream of returning home.

“Regarding the incident with my teammates, it was an isolated matter of no importance and has already been resolved. Relations with the entire team are very good.”
The Athletic newspaper said Rudiger had apologized for the incident and had taken a number of players and their families to lunch to help rebuild the bridge. Although the altercation seemed to be over, problems continue to arise within the club.
Mbappe is accused of having a heated argument with one of Arbeloa’s staff members, who was playing as a referee, during a training session in April. The French man reportedly spoke angrily to his assistants and even said some insulting words towards them.
The World Cup winner is currently undergoing rehabilitation from a recent injury. Despite this, he still made headlines when he was photographed aboard a luxury yacht with his new girlfriend Esther Exposito, just days before his team-mates faced Barcelona in El Clasico.
Following various articles from the Spanish press, Mbappé released a statement to the Associated Press. “Some of the criticism is based on an expanded interpretation of factors related to the recovery period, which will be strictly supervised by the club, rather than reflecting the reality of Kylian’s dedication and the effort he puts in every day for the team,” it read.
At a recent press conference, Arbeloa refused to be pictured with Mbappe and his other half on a yacht. When asked, he replied curtly: “Each player does what he sees fit in his free time. That’s not my concern.”
