Manchester United will have a huge influence in the transfer market following their return to the Champions League. However, there is still much work to be done. The extra games will likely require additional squad members, but that’s before factoring in players who are set to leave, such as Casemiro. If the Brazilian and Jadon Sancho move on after their contracts expire, the club would save significantly on personnel costs, and it is expected that there will be interest from other members of the squad.
United have struggled to retain captain Bruno Fernandes, but the Portuguese midfielder is once again attracting praise. With the World Cup starting on June 11, it may be difficult to complete all planned transfer business early. However, the priority is likely to be the appointment of the club’s next permanent manager, with decision-makers yet to decide whether to retain interim manager Michael Carrick or replace him with someone with more experience at the top level.
Take a look at the latest headlines coming out of Old Trafford…
Galatasaray pay attention to Fernandes
According to Sky Sports Germany, United captain Fernandes remains a coveted target for Galatasaray. However, now that United have secured Champions League football, the Turkish giants are reportedly pessimistic about their future.
Gala, who won the Turkish Super Lig title last season, are four points ahead of nearest rivals Fenerbahce with two games remaining this season. They are understood to be looking for a new number 10 and a more defensive midfielder.
The Istanbul side have shown little hesitation in spending big in recent windows, signing the likes of Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sane.
Fernandes is no stranger to their target list, but admits a move will become more difficult now that his current club is back in the Champions League.

Casemiro braces for wage hit
Casemiro will not be a United player next season, despite some supporters hoping he might reconsider his decision to leave following his impressive performance in the second half of the season.
The Brazilian is yet to decide on his next move, but he has been strongly linked with a move to Major League Soccer.
Inter Miami are also one of the clubs monitoring the situation, with Sky Sports reporting that the midfielder is willing to accept a significant pay cut to move to Florida.
Part of his preference is said to come from a desire to play alongside Argentine superstar Lionel Messi after years spent with rival teams in the Clasico rivalry.
Messi and former Real Madrid great Casemiro have faced each other 20 times for club and country, winning eight times each.
Inter Miami are looking for a new defensive midfielder following the retirement of Sergio Busquets, while rivals Los Angeles Galaxy have also been linked with a move.
