It was a famous night at the Emirates as Arsenal beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 to reach the Champions League final. The celebratory police were immediately dispatched.
Wayne Rooney has accused Arsenal of celebrating too much after reaching the Champions League final for the second time in the club’s history. Bukayo Saka’s opening goal proved the difference at the Emirates as the Gunners defeated Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the semi-final second leg on Tuesday.
Mikel Arteta and his players are currently on their way to Budapest, where they jumped for joy at the Emirates after the final whistle and celebrated with supporters. However, Rooney did not like the post-match scene.
The former Manchester United star told Prime Video Sports: “They deserve to be in this position but they haven’t won it yet. I think the celebrations are a little too much. If we win, let’s celebrate!”
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had a similar opinion. “After two games, there is no doubt that Arsenal are the better team,” Wenger began on beIN Sport.

“They’re celebrating tonight in a big way, which is normal, but I want them to focus more on the final and the next game. It’s natural to celebrate, it’s completely normal to be happy, but the next step is to go to the final and win.”
Arsenal legend Ian Wright wanted to remind supporters that they can celebrate however they like. “To all the Arsenal fans, let me just say this: enjoy this,” a jubilant Wright said in the X video.
“The celebration police are going to come out, so don’t get hurt! Have fun, football is a big moment and this is a big moment. Enjoy it.”
