Marcus Rashford’s performance against Osasuna has led Spanish media to agree to Manchester United’s loan signing
Barcelona could clinch the La Liga title with a win against Osasuna this weekend, giving Marcus Rashford his first league win of his career. The defending champions overtook their rivals on Saturday with a 2-1 success.
In the closing stages, Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski scored within five minutes of each other, and Raul Garcia pulled one back to ensure a tense finale in Pamplona. Despite coming on as a substitute in four consecutive league games, the England international showed his decisive power once again when he came on in the 62nd minute.
Lewandowski broke the deadlock in the 81st minute when Rashford’s excellent shot was headed home by Lewandowski. The result means Real Madrid must beat Espanyol on Sunday to prevent Barça from defending their league title.
After the important win, the Manchester United loanee was widely praised by his colleagues, with much of the Spanish media choosing to echo that sentiment.
Mundo Deportivo
Mundo Deportivo’s Gabriel Sanz praised Rashford’s influence and awareness, which allowed Lewandowski to adjust his positioning and convert the Englishman’s precise play. He wrote: ‘Rashford had just entered the pitch when he decided to make a move down the right flank.

“He held the ball for five seconds and waved his arms to signal a cross. Lewandowski understood the message immediately and instead of going to the far post he headed towards the near post.”

AS’s Javier Miguel highlighted Rashford’s versatility, playing across both flanks while creating decisive moments at crucial stages of the season. Throughout his time at Barcelona, the forward not only played centrally, but also played on the left and right wings. “He played again on the right, this time sending a great cross to Lewandowski, who headed home.”

Football España similarly praised Rashford’s talent for his consistent contribution despite recent speculation that he may not return to Catalonia when his season-long loan ends this month.
The magazine gave the player a match rating of 7/10 and wrote: “His excellent cross was headed home by Lewandowski for the opening goal. It’s unlikely he will stay at Barcelona for another season, but the Manchester United loanee still has his name on the table.”
Semper Barca
Semper Barça officials gave Rashford a 7.5/10 match rating for his cameo dishing the ball for his Polish team-mate and praised his overall performance, which could see him start in next week’s El Clasico. They wrote after the game: “Other than a great assist for Robert Lewandowski for Barcelona’s opening goal, he did a good job of opening up space on the right in this game.”
With 13 goals and 14 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions, Rashford has undoubtedly done everything in his power to secure a permanent move to the Catalan club.
United and Barça are yet to agree on his future, but Rashford is close to getting a winners’ medal as a reward for his form this season, as the Catalan side move closer to winning the title.
