Manchester City’s failure to beat Everton on Monday night means Arsenal have a five-point advantage in the Premier League title race with just a few games left.
Jamie Carragher believes Arsenal can win the title if they beat West Ham this weekend after Manchester City dropped points against Everton.
The former Premier League champion went to the Hill Dickinson Stadium knowing that Arsenal had no choice but to win if they were to take a six-point lead, even though they still had two games to play. However, a second-half implosion saw Jeremy Doku rescue a point at the death and they had to settle for a 3-3 draw.
City’s failure to win means their fate is no longer in their hands, with Arsenal now five points ahead of their rivals. And while nothing is set in stone this weekend, both Carragher and Gunners legend Thierry Henry have pointed to this weekend’s trip to West Ham as definitive in terms of a title destination.
“It’s a tough away game, they (Bournemouth) are in great form,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“From Arsenal’s point of view, it’s a league game tonight, but can you imagine the stadium tomorrow (for the second leg of the Champions League semi-final)? The excitement of the competition, the energy of the fans in the stadium. The league is in your hands with three games left to qualify for the Champions League final.”
“If Arsenal beat West Ham next Sunday, they will win the league.”
Henry emphasized that Arsenal still have room to drop points, so they do not intend to get ahead of themselves, and pointed out that the game against West Ham was the one he was most “concerned about”.
“I thought Man City would drop points at Everton… They’re back in the game and he (Pep Guardiola) still has a lot of points to his name so we have to be positive,” the Frenchman said.
“The only thing that has changed is that it is now in Arsenal’s hands.”
He added: “Now it’s back in Arsenal’s hands. It’s no longer in Man City’s hands. I said at the beginning of the show that City could drop points against Everton and I was worried about West Ham. So I’m going to stay in my lane and not celebrate too soon because nothing is over. But I could see it coming.”
“I could see they were a bit nervous because City collapsed. We made some mistakes but we got Everton back into the game. The game got crazy.
“Arsenal knows Man City dropped two points, but you can’t start thinking, ‘Maybe…’. There’s no maybe.
“Win the game. Don’t look at City. It’s in your hands.”
