Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has been ordered by a court to pay more than £1,100 after being found guilty of failing to pay tax on his McLaren supercar.

The 25-year-old Premier League star has been prosecuted by the DVLA over non-payment of his McLaren 765LT sports car. Mr Hudson-Odoi became the registered manager of the luxury car in February 2024, and his annual tax payments expired at the end of January 2025, according to court documents.

The DVLA said the McLaren was still untaxed nine months after it was discovered on South Mill Street, Manchester, at 8.50am on October 29 last year. Some McLaren 765LT cars, like Hudson-Odoi’s, have an asking price of over £400,000.

The station said Mr Hudson-Odoi was offered an opportunity to settle the case out of court by the DVLA, but he did not accept the offer. The footballer then faced criminal charges for storing a vehicle without a valid vehicle licence.

Hudson-Odoi entered no plea and was found guilty at York Magistrates’ Court on April 20 at a fast-track single-court trial held behind closed doors.

Judge Karen Shackleton ordered the footballer to pay a £660 fine, £410 in unpaid tax and £85 costs.

News of the conviction comes shortly after it was announced that Hudson-Odoi will miss the rest of Forest’s season due to surgery on a leg injury.

The player, who joined Forest from Chelsea in 2023, has scored six goals in 43 appearances this season and won three caps for England in 2019.

His side remain under threat of relegation, but have moved out of the relegation zone in recent weeks. Forest are in contention for silver in Europe, having held a narrow 1-0 lead in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final against Aston Villa.
