Cristiano Ronaldo was part of the chaos that followed Al Nasr’s 2-0 win over Al Ahly. The two teams faced each other in the Saudi Pro League on Wednesday night at Alawal Park.

In the end, Al Nasr secured victory with goals from Ronaldo and Kingsley Coman, increasing their lead over league leaders Al Hilal to eight points and riding the momentum to advance to the last four. This victory was also the club’s 16th consecutive win in the league and 20th consecutive win in all competitions.

But what was supposed to be jubilation in front of a packed home crowd after the win against Al Ahly quickly turned sour. Melih Demiral was stopped by players and staff shortly after the final whistle and was seen arguing with Ronaldo.

The French player was then seen gesturing at Coman before flying away. Nawaf Bushar was also seen exchanging words with Ivan Toney, gesticulating furiously, before the Briton left the scene.

Demiral then picked up one of the two Asian Champions League medals and put it around his neck to show off to the Al Nasr fans, fueling further hostility and was seen biting the medal as he first pumped in anger.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Simakan took a victory lap around the stadium holding a large Al Nasr flag in his hand, waving it in front of Demiral before distancing himself from the skirmish. He then handed the flag to Ronaldo, who was seen laughing and joking with his team-mates before going to plant it on the grass.

After the tensions subsided and Al Ahly players and staff left the pitch, Al Nasr players enjoyed celebrations with their fans. Ronaldo was seen taking a jab at Demiral in the post-match interview, laughing and saying, “There’s five champions. There’s five, there’s five.”

When asked about the game and the abundance of “stress” that followed, he also explained that he was appalled by the consistent “bad things” and complaints and planned to speak with league officials this summer. He added: “I don’t think this is good for the league.

“Everyone complains, everyone does more than they should. This is football, this is not war.

“We know we have to fight, everyone wants to win, but it can’t be allowed, everything. It can’t be allowed, everything.

“We’re going to have time to talk at the end of the season because we’ve seen a lot of really bad things. A lot of players have posted on Instagram and Facebook to complain.

“We talk about officiating, we talk about the league, we talk about projects. I don’t think this is good. This is not the goal of the league.

“We should set an example. We should set an example not only here, but also in Europe. We want to compete with them to be one of the best leagues in the world. But like that, I think we need to analyze. Let’s stop that and talk to the SPL, because this is not football to me.”

However, as the team left the stadium, Demiral was seen telling the media that he “felt cheated” before leaving, and the beef did not finish on the pitch. He said, “Referees, wallahi, crazy, friends.

“League reputation, how…check here (pointing to his leg when he was tackled during the game) check my leg, he almost broke my leg, right?”

“They give everything to Nasr. They want to achieve something. Walahi, it’s a shame. They’re always pushing, they want to win, Nasr, Nasr. Walahi, this is a shame.

“But Alhamdulillah, Al Ahly, always. Al Ahly always wins the matches and no one helps us. No one helps us. But we will always come out on top.”
