Virgil van Dijk has spoken about the possibility of long-time Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson leaving the club in the summer transfer window, along with Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.

Manager Virgil van Dijk admitted Alisson would be a “huge blow” for Liverpool in the summer transfer window, following in the footsteps of Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson. Alisson has been linked with a move to Juventus at the end of the season, and Van Dijk does not want to lose another talented senior player.

Liverpool are preparing for a summer of change after confirming the departures of long-time stars Salah and Robertson. Their departure leaves Van Dijk and Alisson as the last two veterans remaining at Anfield.

However, there has been speculation about the future of the 33-year-old goalkeeper, who has struggled with injuries this season. Giorgi Mamadashvili has replaced Alisson 18 times this season and, although he has one year left on his contract, there are reports that he could leave this summer.

“I think everyone feels a certain way about this,” Van Dijk said, as reported by the Liverpool Echo. “There are rumors, but if something concrete happens, we’ll know soon. But for me, I’m not worried at all.

“Listen, there will always come a day when you guys (myself included) go. But if that happens, I have no idea about it and I don’t think he’s thinking about it at the moment either. Then we as a club will adapt to it.”

“We’ve been through everything together, both positive and unfortunately negative, so it’s definitely going to be a big blow or a failure, but for me, I don’t think it’s a good idea to think ahead of time about what might or might not happen.

“I think he’s very important to me as one of the leaders of the team and also very important on the pitch because I think he’s one of the best, in my opinion, best goalkeepers in the world. He’s trying to get back as soon as possible to help us in the last four games and that’s our main focus.”

“Whatever happens after that, it’s not for you to ask me. Do I want him to stay? Of course, there’s no question about that.”

Alisson has been with Liverpool since 2018 and has made 332 appearances. His 2025/26 season has been hit by a hamstring problem, causing him to miss the last seven games. Freddie Woodman came on as a substitute against Crystal Palace and Liverpool will be hoping he can return for this weekend’s Premier League game against Manchester United.

Another player who could leave Liverpool this summer is Curtis Jones, who is about to enter the final year of his contract but there is no sign of an extension being agreed. Jones has been playing at right-back lately and Van Dijk knows his value.

When asked if he wanted Jones to stay, the Liverpool captain said: “Of course.” “I’m not a manager so I don’t know what’s going to happen. I thought Curtis was an outstanding player against Everton, but he didn’t get talked about a lot, but he was a pretty big game changer, especially in possession, especially positioning.”

“It’s great to be in his original position, but he’s very comfortable on the ball and understands what is required from that position.”
