After Mohamed Salah was forced off with a hamstring problem in Liverpool’s win over Crystal Palace, there were fears this would be the last time he played for the Reds.

Mohamed Salah is expected to play for Liverpool again, the club has announced, following concerns that he has suffered a season-ending injury. The Reds moved to allay fears of the Egyptian’s dream farewell after the 33-year-old was sent off against Crystal Palace with a hamstring injury.

With less than a month left in the Premier League season, and with four games remaining, the Egyptian stomped out and fired a shot that drew applause from the Anfield crowd, sparking fears that his season and Liverpool career were over.

But on Wednesday, Liverpool confirmed in a statement that Salah had only sustained a minor muscle injury. They wrote: “Liverpool FC can confirm that Mohamed Salah is expected to be able to play again before the end of this season.”

“Number 11 came on as a substitute in the second half of last Saturday’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace at Anfield. It has now been confirmed that the issue that led to his withdrawal was a minor muscle injury.”

“However, Salah is expected to return to action at the end of the 2025-26 season and ahead of his departure from the Reds this summer.”

Egyptian national team coach Ibrahima Hassan also shared concerns about Salah’s injury earlier this week as the Pharaohs prepare for this summer’s North American World Cup.

Hassan claimed Salah would be out for up to four weeks, meaning his season and Liverpool career were over. “I suffered a hamstring tear and will need four weeks of treatment,” he told Reuters.

However, these early assessments appear to be premature, which means there is a good chance Salah will feature against Brentford at Anfield on the final day of the season this coming Sunday, May 24th.

Before that, fourth-placed Liverpool face Manchester United this Sunday before traveling to Aston Villa to host Chelsea.

Salah has reached an agreement with the club to leave on a free transfer in the summer, meaning he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, one year into his two-year contract.

The L4 icons have not lived up to their high standards this term, as Arne Slott’s side failed to defend their Premier League title and are left competing for Champions League qualification 12 months after their rise to the top of English football.

Thanks to Salah’s contribution last season, the Dutchman won a winner’s medal in his debut season. But friction arose after the star forward was dropped from the squad, leading to inflammatory comments in December.
