Tottenham and West Ham last four games and points from come-from-behind | Soccer | Sports

Tottenham and West Ham have just four games left before their Premier League fate is decided. But if future results reflect an upset match, who will stare down relegation?

The Hammers remain two points ahead of Tottenham after a dramatic 2-1 win against Everton at the weekend. With four games remaining, Express Sport takes a look at the mix-up between Spurs and West Ham, and what happened the last time they faced their remaining opponents.

They start with Tottenham’s fixture list and travel to Villa Park on Sunday to face top-five chasers Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s team currently sit in fifth place. Villa face Forest in the Europa League semi-final first leg in midweek and have already beaten Spurs 2-1 in a come-from-behind game.

The two teams also clashed in the FA Cup, and it was Villa who defeated Tottenham 2-1 in January, knocking them out of this year’s competition. De Zerbi’s side’s next match is at home to Leeds United on May 11th. When Tottenham visited Elland Road in October, they dominated their next opponents, winning 2-1.

Spurs conclude the season with an away trip to Chelsea and a home match against Everton. Tottenham had beaten the Toffees 3-0 a month earlier, but lost 1-0 to their London rivals in November.

If Tottenham can repeat their previous four results of two losses and two wins, they will finish the season with 40 points. West Ham’s next opponents were Brentford, whom they won 2-0 in a come-from-behind game in October. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will face Arsenal on May 10th. In the previous meeting between these two teams, the Gunners won 2-0.

The Hammers then travel to Newcastle United and play Leeds at home on the final day. West Ham beat the Magpies 3-1 in November, but then succumbed to Leeds 2-1 in October. Therefore, if these upset results were to be repeated, it would mean West Ham’s campaign would end with three losses and one win, meaning they would face a hypothetical drop of 39 points.

Of course, as was the case for both teams on Saturday, the outcome could be different than the other way around, for better or worse. Prior to the win, Spurs had drawn 1-1 with Wolves in their last meeting, while West Ham had also drawn with them and were drawn by Everton in September.
