Manchester United sent ‘complicated’ transfer message to Marcus Rashford | Soccer | Sports

Marcus Rashford has been praised by former Barcelona midfielder Miguel Angel Nadal for not causing controversy within the club. Rashford is on a season-long loan with the Spanish giants, with an option to buy him for £26 million at the end of the season.

The England international has been in great form at the Spotify Camp Nou and it was recently reported that Barça are believed to be keen to extend the forward’s loan deal for a second season, but United insist they are not interested in negotiations, pointing to an option in the contract signed last summer.

United also have no plans to bring the 28-year-old back into the squad, even if former teammate Michael Carrick remains head coach next season. And Nadal believes a compromise can be found on the transfer.

“Marcus Rashford surprised me in a good way,” Nadal said via BetBrothers. “There are two reasons. The first is the sporting aspect, which is obviously very important. And the second is how well he fits into Barcelona’s system.”

“He performed well when he started and he responded well when he came off the bench. He has never been controversial and has been involved every time he has played. He is fast, he scores goals and I think his performance was very solid.”

“It depends on the club’s plans, but without any doubt he is a player who could easily stay at Barcelona.”

Nadal said before continuing: “He has adapted very well to the Spanish league. He is still young at 28 years old, but I think the effort from both him and Barcelona should be mutual. It is worth trying to keep him. It is worth keeping him.”

“It’s true that there was no space for him at United. Both sides will have to make some concessions. I think the transfer fee will be around 35 million euros (about 3 billion yen).”

“This is a bet that depends a bit on Barcelona’s financial situation, but he is an interesting player who could fit in with many clubs.

“Manchester United are starting to improve now, but it’s been a difficult year. They’ve been a reference club for a long time, they’ve invested a lot, but they haven’t found a consistent style. A lot of coaches and players have left. Manchester United have had a lot of coaches and players leave.”

“It’s a bit like Barcelona at one point, they lacked consistency. Now they seem to be slowly putting the key pieces back together. But it’s also an economical game. Rashford’s performance has been very solid.”

“Manchester have assets that they are trying to sell. I think it will be complicated for him to stay there, mainly because his ability to adapt at the time was limited. But in football everything can change.”
