However, Littler, a two-time world darts champion, is unlikely to line up for either team this year. In early February, the 19-year-old reposted the sidemen’s Instagram post, announcing to his 6.2 million followers that tickets to the annual fixture had sold out within hours.
Littler tagged the group in her post and wrote, “Please add me to your team of sidemen.” But the life-long Manchester United fan’s plans to make it happen at Wembley were brutally dashed by KSI, one of the group’s founders.
During an appearance on Capital FM in March, the 32-year-old was asked if he had complied with Littler’s request. The Britain’s Got Talent judge simply replied: “I’m not responding and he’s not participating.”
However, the part-time boxer revealed that his refusal at close range was due to the golden rule that the sideman has always applied in his matches. KSI said: “It sounds really bad, but only content creators are participating in the Sidemen Charity Match.
“So we’ve never had a celebrity come to a match. It’s more like Soccer Aid. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll have a Soccer Aid vs. Sideman match.”
KSI even admitted that some of the most famous celebrities on the planet might ask to participate, and the answer was still a resounding no, assuring Littler’s disdain wasn’t personal.
The YouTuber added, “I think we’re more focused on just the content creators. That’s always been the case, even if Justin Bieber wanted to be on it, we’d say, ‘No! Just the content creators.'”
This year’s Sidemen consists of several important names in the online field. These include Jack Joseph, who manages the team, Zerkaa, W2S, Vikkstar123, TBJZ, Deji, ChrisMD, and xQc. The YouTube side will be managed by Calfreezy and will feature stars such as Sketch, AngryGinge, KSI, Max Fosh, Mrwhosetheboss NYKchazza, and Danny Aarons.
The Sidemen Charity Match will be held at Wembley on Saturday, April 18th, with kick-off set for 3pm. This will generate funds for the charities Bright Side and M7 Education, the latter set up by Sidemen member Simon ‘Miniminter’ Minter and his brother Nick.
