As Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior looks to get his team out of the rut they are stuck in, one of the club’s co-owners has issued a message for the young manager.
Chelsea co-owner Behdad Egbari unconvincingly told Liam Rosenior: “I think we’re behind the times” and warned that this is a results-oriented business. The Blues are currently stuck in a terrible rut of form, having lost their last three Premier League games without scoring a goal.
Things could get worse before they get better as they face Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Chelsea have not won in the Premier League since beating Aston Villa 4-1 away and have not won at the Bridge since January 31, when they came from two goals behind to beat relegation-threatened West Ham 3-2 in dramatic fashion.
The Blues have also fallen out of the top five, with the gap between them and Liverpool in fifth place getting wider and wider. Egbari insists he has Rosenior’s support for now, but the head coach knows he can’t keep losing run-ins.

“With Liam (Rosenia), I’ve had the opportunity to work with him every day for over 18 months, so I knew what I was getting,” Bruco’s majority shareholder said in a rare public appearance at the CAA World Sports Conference in Los Angeles on Thursday.
“We think he has all the qualities to be successful here. He’s made a great start. We’ve had some tough games the last five or six games, but I think we’re behind Liam.”
“Of course it’s a business with consequences, but we think he can be successful long-term.”

Since a consortium led by Blueco and Clearlake Capital bought out the West Londoners, they have been working through their managers. Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino and most recently Enzo Maresca have each been sacked or left the club, while Frank Lampard also served as caretaker manager after Potter’s sacking.
Despite having had four permanent managers since 2022, Egbali insists he wants to bring stability to the club in the form of a long-term head coach. “Our policy is not to change (head coaches) during the season.
“Certainly, we review and hold accountable not only the manager but also the management and the sports teams, but usually this happens in the summer and not during the season. This is not the change we wanted (Enzo Maresca’s departure). It is a change that had a bit of a negative impact during the season when we change systems and personnel, and it is a change that we have to fight to get out of.”
“There are still six games left in the Premier League and we have the FA Cup semi-final coming up, so I hope the story of this season is not written yet, but there is a lot to fight for.
“In my opinion, if you get punched in the face, you have to fight back, you have to stand up and fight. And I think that says a lot about the character of this team.”
“I think the point of view is stability. Frankly, getting that stability on the manager’s side is one of the things we haven’t gotten right yet and it’s something we’re trying to improve on.”
All is not lost for Rosenior and his players. They remain in contention for the top five and will face Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final.
This weekend’s match against United will be one of the most important of the season, especially after the 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the last Premier League game week.
