Anthony Gordon has emerged as a top summer transfer target for a number of elite clubs, with both Arsenal and Liverpool keen to keep him in the Premier League.
If Arsenal decide to sign Anthony Gordon this summer, they are likely to have an advantage over other clubs. The Newcastle winger wants to move to London.
Gordon is open to leaving St James’ Park at the end of the season and is one of Newcastle’s top stars and is likely to attract transfer interest if the club fail to qualify for Europe next year. And the 25-year-old will have no shortage of suitors if Newcastle show they are willing to allow a sale.
Bayern Munich are already interested in signing Gordon, who was Newcastle’s top scorer this summer with 17 goals. Arsenal and Liverpool are also known to be long-time fans of the former Everton player, with both teams expected to be in the market for a new attacker once the 2025-26 season ends.
However, a move to Liverpool would give Gordon the chance to return to his homeland, but the Sun claims the player’s preferred destination is London, giving Arsenal a “significant advantage” over other clubs.

Gordon’s attitude will also be a blow to Bayern. Bayern are already keen to pair the fearsome winger with Harry Kane in a devastating attack. The German champions are prepared to pay big money, with Newcastle thought to ask around £75m for the player, who signs for £45m in 2023.
Regardless of whether they win the Premier League title, Arsenal want to sign a new left-winger this summer, with either Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard set to be sacrificed to create space in Mikel Arteta’s side.
But they have other options in mind, with the Aston Villa star comfortably operating on the left side of the attack and known to be one of an elite few in Europe to court Morgan Rodgers.
The Gunners are also said to be interested in Gordon’s teammate Sandro Tonali, another Newcastle player, and are expected to attract offers this summer.
The Italian playmaker was linked with a surprise move to Arsenal on the final day of the winter transfer window, but claims that he had been ‘offered’ by Newcastle’s Premier League rivals were quickly denied. Bruno Guimarães and Tino Libramento are also rumored to be on the move, meaning Newcastle could lose key players if they fail to improve in the final weeks of the season.
