Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty to two new rape allegations at Southwark Crown Court. The 32-year-old Villarreal player is on trial after denying raping two women and sexually assaulting a third.
Partey appeared in court on Monday on two additional charges of raping another woman in December 2020, an allegation first reported in August 2025. The Ghanaian player also pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in September. The crimes are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022, and Partey is scheduled to go on trial on November 2.
On Monday, Westminster Recorder Judge Tony Baumgartner agreed to hear all the motions together. He warned the parties and lawyers involved in the case that the case could be delayed until January 2027.
Mr Partey, wearing a black jumper over a white shirt, black trousers and smart black shoes, spoke only to confirm his name and enter two pleas of not guilty. He was absent from Westminster Magistrates’ Court when he was first charged.
The court heard that Justice Bennathan is expected to become a judge. The exact trial date will be determined once a judge is confirmed.
Partey is currently out on bail on the condition that he not have contact with the alleged victims, pending legal proceedings. The former Arsenal man, who left the club when his contract expired in the summer, is expected to play against England in the World Cup.
After the latest charges were filed, Partey’s lawyer Jenny Wiltshire said: “Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him. He has consistently cooperated with police. He has co-operated fully with police.”
“Given the ongoing legal proceedings, we have no further comment.”
Partey was not in the Villarreal squad that defeated Athletic Club on Sunday. The former Atletico Madrid anchor has played 26 games for the Yellow Submarine this season, starting 12 of them.
Partey’s bail conditions require him to notify authorities of any change of address or plans to travel abroad.
Partey previously lived in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, after joining Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in a transfer worth £45 million. The midfielder made 167 appearances for the Gunners over five seasons.
