Additionally, Romero will be in a race against time to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with his Argentina side hoping to defend the title they won in 2022.
This is the first time Spurs have finished in the bottom three of the season, although they are yet to win the 2026 Premier League.

De Zerbi took charge in the first game against Sunderland, but a second-half goal from Nordi Mukiele meant Spurs came within two points of suffering their 16th league defeat of the season.
The Spurs have had to deal with a huge number of injuries this season, with James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohamed Kudus, Rodrygo Bentancur, Dominic Solanke and Yves Bissouma all missing large portions of the season.
It didn’t help them as they faced the serious prospect of being relegated from England’s top flight for the first time in their history and for the first time since Keith Burkinshaw’s 1976-77 season.
Former Brighton & Hove Albion manager De Zerbi has six games left to turn around the club’s fortunes and avoid dropping out of the EFL Championship.
They next face their former Italian club at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, before facing bottom club Wolves.
They will finish the season with a series of games against Aston Villa (a), Leeds United (h), Chelsea (a) and Everton (h).
