Slott was ‘not surprised’ by Ngmoha’s ‘special qualities’ after Liverpool beat Fulham

Ngumoha, who started in his second top-flight game for the Reds, controlled a pass on the left side of the penalty area and drove towards goal.
He twisted Fulham full-back Timothy Castagne in this way and the Belgian eventually allowed a shooting window, which the teenager made the most of, curling his shot into the bottom corner of the goal.
The England Under-19 international still had a lot of work to do after rocking Castagne with his electric movement on the ball. He took the lead with a deft shot past Joachim Andersen and a desperate dive from Bernd Leno.
But Andy Robertson was less convinced by Ngmoha’s celebration.

“No, he was unbelievable. It just shows up every now and then. Don’t listen to experienced players. I’m yelling at him to come on the overlap, but he just cuts inside. It was a great finish from him, a great performance from him. He keeps learning and keeps listening. He’s a very good kid.”
“Honestly, he and Trey (Nyoni) are fun to work with. They just listen to the players and you see them improving all the time. He has a big future ahead of him, but things are still very good right now.”
Ngumoha’s Player of the Match performance puts pressure on Arne Slott to become Liverpool’s youngest goalscorer in Europe in Tuesday’s must-win game against Paris Saint-Germain.
The 17-year-old then ended the interview by saying, “Let’s go again.”
Liverpool had only 0.17 expected goals in the first leg. Ngmoha was an unused substitute at the Parc des Princes, with less than half of the goals coming from the front duo of Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirths.
But he responded in the best possible way, breaking the deadlock with a tenacious Cottages game and breaking Raheem Sterling’s record for youngest Premier League scorer at Anfield in 92 days, set against Reading in 2012.
Michael Owen is the only player to have achieved that feat before turning 18, and only James Milner and Wayne Rooney have achieved it at a younger age than Ngmoha.

“It feels great to be back at Anfield and get the three points. It’s a great feeling,” Ngmoha added. “The atmosphere was great again so it was a positive day.
“It was a special goal. Robbo (Robertson) made the overlap and he created space for me and I cut inside and went for the corner.
“Liverpool, for me, the biggest club in the world. It’s great to start so young and the manager believes in me and all the players. So I have to keep working hard and keep moving forward. Here we go again.”
