Bruno Fernandes has revealed the player he would like Manchester United to sign. The only problem is…it’s literally impossible to sign that player!

Fernandes has had a fantastic spell at United, helping to put the Red Devils in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League once again. It’s been three years since United last appeared in Europe’s top competition, and the Old Trafford outfit are on the verge of a comeback.

There is no doubt that there will be a lot of movement in the summer transfer window, starting with the managerial department. It’s shaping up to be a crucial off-season for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, but one wish they can’t fulfill is that of midfield general Fernandes.

That’s because the Portuguese ace named manager Michael Carrick as the player he most wants to play with in midfield. In an interview with Men in Blazers, Fernandez explained:

“Because when he was here under Ole[Gunnar Solskjær]I trained with him and sometimes he trained with us, you know, as a[number]six he was great putting the ball between the lines.”

When pressed for further justification, he continued: “(As a number 10) you want the ball to come to you as quickly as possible. He was great with the timing, control and passing of the pass. Sometimes it’s not about holding the ball for too long, it’s about getting your team-mates as free as possible as quickly as possible.”

“And he was great at doing that. And for me as a number 10, it’s perfect to have someone behind me who knows how to release the ball quickly to make the most of the space I have.”

Fernandes had previously excluded Wayne Rooney from conversations because he was not a fan of the Englishman, rather the opposite. “There are a lot of them. I wouldn’t say Rooney, because he plays in a similar position to me, so I’ll be on the bench, but that’s not fun.”

Fernandes will be hoping to repeat the performances of United’s stars of yesteryear when they welcome Leeds United to Old Trafford on Monday. As the final game of the weekend, Carrick and his mates will be forced to respond to what happens to their top-five rivals as the race for Champions League places intensifies.
