Rio Ngmoha took center stage as he helped Liverpool claim three points, with Andy Robertson watching the teenager’s excitement from the front row.

Andy Robertson has praised Liverpool sensation Rio Ngmoja, rooting for the teenager’s big future after ignoring his call and going to score a goal instead during the 2-0 win against Fulham.

The experienced Scot, who announced his departure from Anfield in the summer, returned to the left-back role and played behind Ngmoha, who also made a rare starting appearance himself. The 17-year-old impressed every time he was given the opportunity and grabbed the headlines once again.

Ngumoha scored the opening goal as Liverpool saw off the West London side, boosting their Champions League hopes in the process. He cut inside and scored a fine goal while turning down Robertson’s offer of a support run.

The teenager also contributed to Mohamed Salah’s goal. Robertson has seen Ngmoha continue to improve day by day and is confident he will continue to enjoy a successful career.

The defender told Sky Sports: “He’s unbelievable. It just shows that sometimes he doesn’t listen to the more experienced players. I was shouting at him to come on the overlap.”

“Then he cuts inside. It’s a great finish and a great performance from him. He just keeps learning and keeps listening. He’s a very good kid. Him and Trey (Nyoni) are fun to work with and listen to the players. You can see them growing all the time. He’s got a big future ahead of him, but he’s in pretty good shape right here.”

Ngmoha has had several breakthrough moments this year, starting with his stoppage-time winning goal against Newcastle in August. The teenager put in another impressive performance when given the chance in the FA Cup win over Wolves. And now there are calls for the youngster to be given a chance against PSG.

Ngmoha’s fearless personality has drawn praise, and Slott believes in his willingness to challenge opponents with skill rarely seen in the modern game.

The Dutchman said: “He has a special quality that you don’t see very often in football anymore: dominating one-on-one situations. And that’s exactly what he did when he scored the goal. You could say he twisted and turned and freed the ball and hit it like a Mo Salah finish. We saw it more and more in the training sessions last month, so I’m not surprised to see that.”

Ngmoha has played in 23 games this season, but only six as a starter. Two of them are playing in the Premier League, with the teenager primarily being used as an impact substitute.
