Morten Hjurmand impressed during his time at Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon and the Dane appears to be attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
Manchester City are reportedly close to signing Sporting Lisbon star Morten Hulmand as manager Josep Guardiola overhauls his midfield. Etihad is expecting a number of changes to the heart of the park this summer.
Bernardo Silva is set to leave the club before next season, but Rodri’s future remains up in the air as he attracts increased interest from Real Madrid. According to A Bola, City have been impressed by the Danish international’s performances and have already made informal contact with Sporting regarding Yurmand.
The former Lecce star also fits the profile City are looking for in terms of tactical awareness and physicality. The Premier League side are reportedly keen to lock him up for next season, with Sporting seemingly open to a deal.
Yurmand currently has an €80 million release clause in his contract, but Sporting could demand significantly less. It has also been suggested that midfielder Hugo Viana, who was signed during his time at Sporting, could also play a big role in any deal.

Hjormand has made 135 appearances for Sporting, scoring nine goals. City’s interest is not the first time Hilmand has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Tottenham appear to have had an eye on him in the past, but his love for north London rivals Arsenal may have caused problems. The midfielder has an Arsenal tattoo on his arm and previously admitted: “My dad supports Arsenal and we used to watch games together when I was younger.”
Manchester United were heavily linked with a Hilmand raid during Ruben Amorim’s time at Old Trafford, and current captain Bruno Fernandes would have been a big fan of the move. He said: “You have a lot of midfielders.

“One of them is Fredrik Aulsnes, thanks to his intelligence and the dynamics he brings to the game. He is a player who adapts to the Premier League regardless of his physicality. He is slender, but I believe that here intelligent players always win. Obviously, Morten Hjurmand is the perfect player at the moment.”
Asked if he would like to see Yurmand become a United player, Fernandes added: “Yes. “He is a player who will contribute to the team.
“He is intelligent and aggressive, which you need in the Premier League. But only when you come here will you know whether you are really suited for the Premier League, because it is very different compared to other leagues. In my view, I think Yurmand will adapt well here, but I also think he will fit in the Italian league.”
