Arsenal are reportedly prepared to sell sensational duo Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly as part of a brutal shake-up in the summer transfer window. The Gunners are on the verge of winning their first Premier League title in 22 years and are already looking to advance to the Champions League semi-finals.
Mikel Arteta has led Arsenal to the brink of success, but regardless of how the season ends for the north Londoners, a big offseason is expected at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are said to be open to selling Nwaneri and Lewis Skelly, who are currently on loan at Marseille, if a suitable offer is received for either player.
This is according to the BBC, who reported that spending £250m last year means Arsenal could be forced to sell this summer to meet the Premier League’s new team cost ratio rules. This explains the leniency with which two highly talented Academy productions are allowed to exit, given that they are recorded as pure profit on the balance sheet.
Both players are locked into long-term contracts, with Arsenal only allowing a sale if finances work in their favor, with the outlet suggesting a total transfer fee of £100m is what they are looking for. Nwaneri has received offers from Borussia Dortmund, who have an excellent track record of developing young English players.
But they are not the only players on Arsenal’s penalty list, with Gabriel Jesus, Ben White and, perhaps surprisingly, Gabriel Martinelli also among those who could be released. Martinelli has scored just one goal in the Premier League this season, and it has been suggested that Arsenal could consider adding him to the left wing position.
When it comes to new signings, Newcastle’s trio of players are said to be attracting the club’s attention. Chief among them is Sandro Tonali, who emerged as a late target for Arsenal at the end of the January transfer window, with interest said to carry over into the summer.
Tino Libramento is a right-back who also played for Newcastle and is attracting attention from multiple teams in the Premier League, including Arsenal. Meanwhile, Martinelli could be replaced by Anthony Gordon, who Arsenal had been eyeing before moving to Newcastle in 2024.
Piero Hincapie’s loan move from Bayer Leverkusen is expected to become permanent as part of a deal costing Arsenal £45m. Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez has been rumored to be part of the Emirates Stadium squad for some time, but that would require either Victor Goqueres or Kai Havertz to leave first.
